Common questions

  • How do I calculate my age from my date of birth?

    Count the whole years to your last birthday, then the whole months from there, then the days left over. Dividing the total days by 365 is close but drifts by a day per leap year.

  • When is the birthday of someone born on 29 February?

    There is no 29 February in three years out of four, so this tool turns their age over on the 28th. Some jurisdictions use 1 March instead; the two agree in leap years.

  • How many days old am I?

    The total days figure above counts every calendar day between the two dates, leap days included. A year averages 365.2425 days, so 10,000 days is a little over 27 years.

  • Why is a month not always the same number of days?

    Months run from 28 to 31 days, so this counts a month as the same date in the next month. From 31 January that lands on 28 or 29 February, because there is no 31st to land on.
